Ramya to flaunt her curves again for an item song

Ramya is all set to shake her legs for yet another item song. The actress, who flaunted her curves and gyrated to the sexy beats of 'Urigoble padmavathi...' in Johny Mera Naam, is reportedly doing the special number in Kavitha Lankesh's forthcoming Kannada film Crazy Loka.

Reports say that Ramya has given the nod for the raunchy item number. She has okayed after reading the lines of the song penned by Kaviraj. The special song starts off with the line 'Galabe galabe....', says a source.

However, it is not sure when the Sanju Weds Geetha star will participate in the shooting, as she is busy in politics. Imran Sardaria is choreographing the item number for the number composed by Manikanth Khadri.

Crazy Loka, which is being produced by Confident Group, features Ravichandran, Harshitha Poonachcha and Surya in the leads.

Bharat Salim Kumar

To tell you the truth, we are not big fans of Salim Kumar the comedian. Before the arrival of Suraj Venjaramoodu, we thought he was simply irritating. After watching amazing comedians like Jagathi Sreekumar and Innocent, Salim Kumar was a let down. In fact we will be snobbish and say that there is not a single Salim Kumar comedy we liked.
But there is a different Salim Kumar who has acted brilliantly in two movies we have seen. One is Achanurantha Veedu and the other is Kerala Cafe. Both movies are heart wrenching and Salim Kumar simply ceases to be Salim Kumar and becomes the character. You see a side of him you have never seen before. He is involved and is able to trigger various emotions inside the viewer. The 10 minute role in Kerala Cafe is particularly hard to see as he toggles helplessness, sadness and cruelty all together. Any lesser actor would have botched it up.
We have not seen Adaminte Makan Abu. Apart from the jury members, we don’t know who has. But from the trailer it looks like a deeply sad movie. When even Suraj Venjaramoodu is serious, you know it is not an ordinary movie. Here is the story in a nutshell from Wikipedia.
The film is about Abu (Salim Kumar), who has been dreaming of performing the holy pilgrimage to Mecca , despite severe financial constraints. Abu is an old vendor selling Yunani medicines and Athar, roaming around the streets of  Malabar. The film chronicles the difficulties that the old poor couples of Malabar encounter to go for a much hoped Hajj pilgrimage.
Now if you look at the three movies, Achanurangatha Veedu, Kerala Cafe and Adaminte Makan Abu, Salim Kumar portrays a single emotion. He is helpless and sad. Is that the range emotions he can portray? Is that narrow range of emotions sufficient to win the national award or the state award? It looks like if you portray sadness, your performance is considered better than those who have not. For example, look at the state awards for Kavya Madhavan and Mamta Mohandas. Both depict unhappy people. Note that while Salim Kumar has won the national award, an actor with infinite range like Nedumudi Venu has never won it. And that is exactly what ticks us off.
That said, we completely disagree with these lines which were reported today :

Salim Kumar has lashed out against Ranjith’s comments and said it is just sour grapes. Meanwhile there is a feeling among certain section of the industry that those who do comedy roles should not be equated with Mammootty and Mohanlal. This has led to a division in the industry.
There is nothing called Comedy Actor. In Malayalam, all comedy actors do character roles as well and that is their strength. Going by this logic, even Mammotty and Mohanlal should not be considered for awards because they do comedy movies like Pokkiri Raja and China Town.

Indecent Behavior

In the finale of Munch Star Singer Junior Mr. Jagathi Sreekumar made a speech in which he came out against the anchor Ranjini Haridas. Mimicking her style of speaking, which is Malayalam with an English accent, he said that the anchor should just do anchoring and should not have any opinion on the singing. You can see the video to realize the scorn he has for this anchor.
We have watched many finale episodes of Idea Star Singer and Munch Star Singer and never have seen a guest speak like this. Usually people come and say a few mild words of encouragement, show some stardom and go away. Jagathi instead gave a speech in which he went on and on and defined how people should behave. He praised Sujatha and Venugopal and ranted on Renjini who was standing next to him. In her own words:
Just the other day I was the victim of an individual who took advantage of his right to freedom of speech to publicly embarrass and ridicule me. Moreover, all this happened on national television! The man in question, who from now I shall refer to as Mr Moon, clearly overstepped the limits of what to say when and where, and to my agravation, had no regard or respect for the event at hand or the people concerned
Now you may like or dislike Renjini’s style of compering or her way of talking or having her own opinions. She is a very competent compere very able to handle any situation thrown at her. When some singers stop singing or have trouble, she very ably handles it. She is very opinionated and if you have watched her retorts at Sharath and ‘Sree Kuttan’, you will know she can handle herself quite well. It this personality that makes her a memorable compere compared to others who just utter what is told or do the bare minimum as Jagathi wants.
What Jagathi wants is not her to stop such things, but to stop passing judgement on the songs. He says only judges can pass judgement. Why? As someone who does not know to sing and is not musically trained, she is just like us. She is the common man. Her opinion is from that side and so far we have not found it ‘arochakam’. It never felt odd to us. So why this outburst? Is there another story we are missing here?
Now if she wanted to retort, Renjini could have said that Jagathi should stop acting in all those semi-porn movies, but she did not. She in fact wrote a weak piece in Deccan Chronicle. It is not for her to suggest what Jagathi should do, but such basic courtesy was not extended to her. This is a new low for Jagathi in the past year. We saw this is a new low because this is a man who wallows in the depths of civil behavior. To give another example, last year he was on television talking about his marriage to Mallika Sukumaran. At some point they divorced and he explained that the divorce ‘may’ have been due to their caste.
So the anchor asked once more if she ever mentioned anything like that and he said she did not. So in reality, he still has no idea why she left, but by throwing a caste issue into the mix he muddied the water. You can say, he did a Thilakan at that moment.
So we have few options for analysis. We can do the whole ‘savarna-avarna’ thing. Or we can notice that Jagathi rants mostly against strong women and dump some anti-feminism on him. But then this would be like trying to write a review of ‘Pokkiri Raja’ or ‘Sagar Alias Jackie’ when in fact there is a simpler explanation.
Nelbin raises an interesting point:
It was absolutely a scandalous behaviour from Jagadhi to say scathing comments about Ms.Haridas and the program she is hosting at such a big ceremony watched all over the world .Jagdhi managed to pull in great crowd support for his outrageous remarks on Ms.Hardis as they booed and jeered at her with the every word he uttered. Sadly Jagathi and those guys represent the last generation of malayalees with parochial attitude who take pleasure in taunting others in public
Yes, Jagathi does have the right to express his views and no one can blame him if he believes that Renjini and co are abusing our mother tongue with her ‘manglish’ but is this the way to show his disapproval? Shouldn’t he had shown the courtesy to tell her his views in person?
At this point, let’s look how Ms Renjini reacted to this insult. She could have easily retorted to him in the same manner or could have even did a ‘Sreesanth’(remember the bhajji-slap-incident?) but the brave girl that she is,maintained her calm and carried on with the show as if nothing had happened..!(C’mmon,thats’ what we call dignity, isn’t it?.)Mr. Jagathy instead of blessing and enlightening the ‘junior star singer’ winners about the potential film offers that could come their way(whom in all probabilities will be forgotten by every one, including jagathy by the next season of the show) chose to play it to the galleries and win himself some cheap publicity by dissing Ms Haridas in national television.
Jagathi is one of the greatest actors of Malayalam cinema on par with Nedumudi Venu, Thilakan, Mohanlal and Mammotty. But that does not make him a great human being. During the time of Prem Nazir, Jayan and Sathyan we did not have this much media coverage and we did not know how they were in real life. Now thanks to the 24 hour media and due to the willingness of these stars to throw up whatever comes to their mind on TV, we know what kind of scumbags they really are.

If kissing is a way to remember me, so be it

Mumbai: Poor Emraan Hashmi! There seems to be no getting away from the "serial kisser" tag despite his many protests and he's back to locking lips in his forthcoming film "The Dirty Picture".

If people wish to remember him for his on-screen kisses, so be it, says the somewhat exasperated actor who has for long been looking for an image change.

The 32-year-old actor came to be known as Hindi cinema's serial kisser after numerous lip locks in films like "Murder", "Zeher", "Aashiq Banaya Apne", "Gangster" and "Jannat".

"The tag would never go. I tried to get rid of it, but it follows me everywhere. I have done so many films with it (kissing) and so many people went and watched those films. So probably they want to remember me for that. And if kissing is a great way to remember me, I have no complaints! My audience base is there and I can't change overnight," Emraan told IANS in an interview.

"I am trying out different things in my forthcoming films. Hopefully it would be another dimension, which would change people's perception about me," he added.

"The Dirty Picture" is said to have Emraan in yet another kissing scene, this time with actress Vidya Balan. He however stresses that the film, based on the life of the late southern sex icon Vijayalakshmi aka Silk Smitha, takes sexuality to a different level.

"It's a different take on sexuality. Sexuality in my films was shown differently before this. 'The Dirty Picture' takes it to a different level," said Emraan.

The first trailer of the movie has already created a buzz, with Vidya in a bold new avatar. Emraan plays one of the three men in her life, while the other two male characters have been essayed by Tusshar Kapoor and Naseeruddin Shah.

"I play a movie director who believes in artistic cinema. He is one who doesn't really give a damn about commercial viability of a film. He would rather make a film, which critics will appreciate; he sticks to his guns creatively, never budges from his creative instincts of a film and the content the film. It's a very different character that I haven't played before," said the actor.

"The Dirty Picture", produced by Ekta Kapoor, and directed by Milan Luthria, will release Dec 2, which happens to be Silk Smitha's birth anniversary.

Even though the movie is being promoted as Silk Smitha's biopic, Emraan says it has been spiked with fiction for commercial value.

"It's basically a fictional film. It might have been taken from different sources and it's about the southern film industry, about the actress, her rise, her stardom and her relationship with these three men...Eventually, lots of comparisons can be made but lots of things have been added for commercial effect. So I wouldn't say it's truly a biopic," he said.

This is the first time that Emraan has teamed up with the critically acclaimed Vidya. "Vidya is a great actress. Our combination is new. It's a great experience working with her. Every character in the film is very intriguing and interesting; so we share a very different kind of chemistry on screen."

He is also in awe of veteran actor Naseeruddin.

"Naseeruddin is god of acting. I did a couple of scenes with him, which was a great learning experience," said Emraan.

Hrithik had to change his workout, diet for Agneepath!

Actor Hrithik Roshan's look in the movie Agneepath made jaws drop and inspired men and wooed women all over the world. But it was not at all easy to get the look and physique in place as per the requirement. Hrithik had to completely change his workout routine and work extremely hard to get that shape which is now called as god made.

His trainer Satyajit Chaurasia, who has been Hrithik’s trainer for 9 years, explains how Hrithik had to go into an extreme regime to get his muscles extremely toned for Vijay Chauhan’s role in Agneepath. His diet was a super protein diet with 12 egg whites, 2 loafs of brown bread, a protein shake, nuts, corn flakes with milk and fruit platter for breakfast. Two roti, green vegetables, 1 whole chicken (during the day), dal, caesar salad, fish platter for lunch

’TGIYB’ good news for Indian cinema

That Girl In Yellow Boots"; Cast: Kalki Kochelin, Prashant Prakash, Naseeruddin Shah; Director: Anurag Kashyap; Rating:

The 1960s were a wonderful time for Indian cinema. The government set up the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) to impart cinema education and FFC (Film Finance Corporation) to fund creative cinema. The result - beginning 1969 India saw what is today called 'The New Indian Cinema' that resulted in some of the greatest films ever made in the nation.

Recently, with the advent of digital filmmaking, little droplets of creative cinema have been foreshadowing another cloud-burst of creativity. However, it needs patronage. Perhaps NFDC (National Film Development Corporation), transformed from FFC, would provide that shot in the arm to extremely talented, but unfinanced filmmakers in India. And "The Girl In Yellow Boots" (TGIYB), co-funded by NFDC, could be that game changer.

A British national of Indian origin, Ruth (Kalki), is in India looking for her dad who had left her when she was young. To fund her trip, she works in a shady massage parlour charging Rs.1000 to give 'happy endings' to her customers. She is caught up in her druggie boyfriend's mess but a greater mess awaits her in the discovery of her father.

TGIYB is good news for Indian cinema for many reasons. Firstly, it is perhaps India's first commercially released film to be not just entirely shot in digital (LSD was the first) but also shot on cameras that are usually used to shoot stills. Seeing what digital can do on big screen, like LSD, is an experience and lesson in filmmaking.

Secondly, it will perhaps become the second innings of NFDC. The brilliant films produced by its precursor FFC in the 1970s and 1980s will vouch for the veracity of how much creative cinema needs and deserves governmental patronage. In a few months' time NFDC will also release Dibakar Banerjee's "Shanghai".

Shot in 13 days, TGIYB is spot on in almost all departments. It is carried forward by a stellar performance from its cast, especially Kalki Kochelin, who's also the co-writer.

TGIYB is a statement on modern life and society. The character of Ruth, despite her seeming loss of innocence and purity, is the purest character in the film. Yet, like a beautiful flower in full bloom, she is trampled upon by a ruthless society that ceaselessly uses her. Her yellow boots becomes a metaphor for the beauty and cheer that is stolen from her.

Violence, though rarely physical, is inflicted upon her till she becomes insensitive to the innocence of another like her. Her trampling seems complete, till in the end she redeems himself, by refusing to act as per her impulse.

This is a typical Anurag Kashyap film as it returns us to the themes that form the backdrop in many of his films - sex, drugs and violence. The quirky characterization and the pun of language is all there. Who else can pun a name 'Chittiappa Gowda' and pull it off or juxtapose the banal telephonic conversation of a chatty woman and serious confrontation on phone between mother and daughter at the same time?

Yet, the film is also atypical of Anurag for unlike his other film he exercises great restraint. And it is in this control, of not ending the film in violence, lies its greatest power.

The time is ripe for another cinematic revolution in the country, where filmmakers are not shackled by nepotistic and uncreative production houses and corporate houses married only to profits. Hopefully, TGIYB will prove to be the first, in the many to follow.

A sequel to The Dirty Picture?

While Milan Luthria is all ready to wrap up shooting for The Dirty Picture, he is open to the idea of making a sequel to the film. The Dirty Picture, one of the most anticipated Bollywood film for the year, will show Vidya Balan essay the role of late South siren Silk Smitha.

Milan Luthria will soon get into the post-production of The Dirty Picture to ensure that the film releases on December 2, which is the birth anniversary of the late south siren Silk Smitha. Speaking about a sequel to the biopic, Luthria said, “It's a bit early to think of a sequel. If people find it uplifting, then I'll be the first to jump at the opportunity. Balaji and I are not closed to the idea.”

Speaking about the first look of The Dirty Picture to a leading website, Milan Luthria said, “We worked incredibly hard on the first look of the film. As the film is mainstream and commercial in every respect, that had to come through in the poster and trailer.”

As The Dirty Picture is a mainstream film and traces the controversial life of Silk Smitha, it is packed with music, humour and not to mention many intimate scenes involving Vidya Balan, Emraan Hashmi, Naseeruddin Shah and Tushaar Kapoor.

Malaika Arora Khan set to do item

Actress malaika Arora Khan has wowed everyone with her item dance in 'Munni Badnaam' of the movie Dabangg. The uncrowned Queen of item numbers is now all set to make her comeback with another item song in Sajid Khan's upcoming film Housefull 2, which is expected to bring back Munni's desi look on screen again.  According to reports, Malaika Arora Khan can be seen sizzling on screen in another hot item song in multi-starrer Bollywood movie Housefull 2. Choreographer-turned-director Farah Khan will choreograph this item song. She is expected to bring the glory of her 'Sheila' and 'Munni' together in the song.  However, Malaika Arora Khan has done several item songs like 'Chaiyyan Chaiyyan', 'Kaal Dhamaal', 'Maahi Ve' and the chartbuster 'Munni Badnaam' and she is successful in impressing the pranksters in each of them. Malaika was even part of Sajid Khan's Heyy Babyy and Housefull. Now, she is ready to do one more item number for Sajid

Parvathi Melton sizzles in Dookudu item song

We have reported earlier about Parvathi Melton's item song in forthcoming Telugu movie Dookudu. Now, the latest to hear is that the song picturization has been completed and the first look of the number has been released.

Parvathi Melton along with Mahesh Babu and a group of dancers have grooved for the special number titled 'Poovai poovai...'. In the first look, the actress looks wind and gives an impression that the actress would set the screen on fire.

'Poovai poovai...' has already won the hearts of the mass audience. The song, which is composed by Thaman, was picturized at Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad.

Dookudu, which stars Mahesh Babu, Samantha and Prakash Raj in the leads, is directed by Srinu Vytla and jointly produced by Anil Sunkara and Gopichand Achanta. It will hit the screens coming Friday (September 23).

Jurassic Park

The setup’s fiendishly simple.

Throw a few characters together, trap them on an island - then fill that island with rampaging dinosaurs.

Blockbusters would never be the same again, but it’s worth remembering there’s only six minutes of CGI in this, its supposed coming-out party.

Unleashed in 1993, Jurassic’s a classic not because of the computer whizzery, but Steven Spielberg’s eye for stomach-clenching peril and telling character moments alike - we get to know the dino-fodder before they hit the menu, so the resulting buffet is all the more intense.

Add to all this a succession of set-pieces most filmmakers would give their left viewfinders for, and you have one of the big screen’s very greatest thrill-rides.

Alexia Fast joins Tom Cruise's One Shot

Actress Alexia Fast has joined the cast of novel-turned-film One Shot

The Christopher McQuarrie movie stars Tom Cruise as former military policeman Jack Reacher, investigating a sniper accused of murdering five people.

The Hollywood Reporter stays true to its name by revealing that Fast will play “Sandy, a seductive young siren involved in a setup of Cruise's character.”

Fast’s first project was writing, directing and starring in the short film The Red Bridge. A commercial followed before she was cast as Cindy Bottoms in the zombie drama Fido starring Carrie-Anne Moss and Billy Connolly.

She has since appeared in the feature films Kickin’ It Old Skool (2007), Helen (2009) and Triple Dog (2010), as well as the Hallmark Wizard Of Oz mini-series Tin Man

One Shot also stars Rosamund Pike, Richard Jenkins and David Oyelowo and is expected to begin shooting in Pittsburgh in October 2011.
Keen to catch up on the back catalogue of this seductive siren? Excited by the cast that's being assembled for this adaptation of Lee Child's Jack Reacher novel? Head below and share your thoughts.

Shark Night 3D

Directed by childactor-turned stuntman-turned-B-flick huckster David R Ellis (Snakes On A Plane), SN 3D gamely aims to deliver on dumb-fun expectations with a straightforward beast-vs-co-eds tale. Sadly, it’s hampered by a commercial coyness that skimps on the grue and cuts out celebrity skin entirely, leaving you with nothing more than a few poke-y moments and wistful memories of Piranha 3D. It’s like watching the Discovery Channel during shark week with annoying glasses on and, for some reason, a guest spot from American Idol’s Katharine McPhee

Dookudu will release in 900 screens

Considering the abuzz around the movie, the makers of Dookudu has decided to release the movie with record number of prints. The movie will hit the screens on September 23, worldwide.

If reports are to be believed, Dookudu will release in 900 screens. However, the makers of the film have not confirmed about the exact number of prints. Currently, the movie is busy filming an item song on Parvathi Melton and Mahesh Babu at Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad.

The first copy of the film will be ready by September 16th and it will go for censor on September 19th. The movie, which stars Mahesh Babu, Samantha and Prakash Raj in the leads, is directed by Srinu Vytla and jointly produced by Anil Sunkara and Gopichand Achanta.

Rascals team upset with Kangana Ranaut

Kangana Ranaut's absence from the promotional events of her forthcoming film Rascals seems to reconfirm the rumour that all is not well between Kangana and the Rascals team.

Speaking to IANS, Sanjay Ahluwalia, who is co-producing the film along with Sanjay Dutt said, “Kangana has some prior commitments and we also have some issues with her, so that is why she is not promoting Rascals.”

It has been reported many times in the past that Kangana Ranaut was facing serious problems on the sets of Rascals. She even reportedly had a tiff with actor Sanjay Dutt on the sets of the film. We informed you recently how Kangana had initially refused to do the bikini scene before agreeing to do it later. The report, however was then dismissed off by the director David Dhawan and Kangana as baseless rumour.

Well, this is now clear that things are not hunky dory between Kangana Ranaut and the Rascals team. So, now, can we hear from you Kangana?

Rascals, which is expected to hit the theatre on October 7, is Sanjay Dutt's first ever production venture

Siddique on success and Salman

This man knows his craft well. He might be tongue-tied when it comes to Hindi, but was sharp enough to get the pulse of its people right. The way Siddique brought in subtle changes in the thread of 'Bodyguard' while adapting it to Bollywood, speaks volumes about his expertise.

But, talking to him you realise what makes him more worthy of a standing ovation is the way he wards off fame and success from going to his head. The simple and well-liked director speaks to Manoramaonline on 'Bodyguard' and much more.

Was success of such high proportions expected?
I was hopeful. But, this is an overwhelming experience, much beyond my wildest dreams. Within 6 days of its release, the film has reached the 100 crore mark. I am happy that my endeavour has been well-received. 'Kavalan' had to fight its way out. But, this time, I think the on-screen chemistry shared by Salman and Kareena proved to be decisive.

What is so special about 'Bodyguard'?
I would say it is the story. The thread of the story was unique and strong. It was fresh and romantic as well. In all the three versions, the main characters were played by popular actors. Bodyguard owes its success to its entire crew. However, I had made certain changes in the script each time. Producer Atul Agnihotri too gave me tremendous support.

The best among the three pairs?
Comparison is not fair. All three pair of actors are unique in their own ways. They were most suitable to that particular script. The treatment too was different in each case. All the three pairs performed brilliantly before the camera.

Homework?
I was confident about the subject. I had got many offers from Bollywood even before. But, I was relectant as I wanted to make my entry to Bollywood a memorable one. I was waiting for such a script to come my way. In this case, I knew from the beginning that Salman could bring this role to perfection. When he saw the Malayalam version, Salman too agreed to do it without a second thought.

Lovely Singh?
Salman was the most obvious choice for Lovely Singh's role. I don't think the film would have made it this big, if some other actor had performed in the lead role. Lovely Singh was one character that Salman's fans wanted to a see him as.

The Billion club?

I was literally flooded with congratulatory messages. Including Mammootty, almost all of them from the industry rang me up. Mammukka, who is more like an elder brother to me said that this success was a reward that God gave me for my hard work.

But, I will never distance myself from Mollywood. Many offers are coming.. I will go for the best ones.

How do you see this huge success?

Naturally, I am delighted. But no success, however big it may be, can ever change the person that I am. In fact, hits make me more responsible. With every superhit film, the burden of expectation also goes up.

Bad Teacher

"Bad Teacher"; Cast: Cameron Diaz, Jason Segel, Justin Timberlake; Director: Jake Kasdan

It's one of the most frivolous plots imaginable -- a bad, foul mouthed school teacher working her way through by hook or crook just to get a boob-job done. And though this wafer-thin, sexist film may be bad in most departments, it will perhaps work for some people -- most of all for those who are as flippant as the character.

Elizabeth (Cameron Diaz) is the kind of teacher who is bad enough to give the worst of teachers a bad name. She dopes, drinks, is foul-mouthed and sexually inappropriate -- all of this in her class. Her only ambition in life is to marry a rich guy. To do that, she thinks she needs work on her breasts, for which she needs 10,000 dollars. She does everything in her power as a school teacher, and beyond, to somehow manage that money. She also faces competition from another teacher out to expose her.

Cameron Diaz is too old to play a young, pesky teacher. However, it is her age and experience that gives her character an I-care-a-damn attitude which gives the film a little semblance of credulity and its few funny moments.

The story, as expected, is predictable. However, the gags and the jokes could have been original. Sadly, there isn't much luck on that front either. The humour is tasteless and the acting, in most parts, is bland. However, that may not be such a bad thing since the film has a sense of mockery about it. It is irreverent of everything, including itself.

But most of all it is perhaps impudent towards our times without really intending it. It is a film that would not have been considered by studios worthy of wasting precious money and an expensive star on. However, the fact that it exists and is getting a global release means that the producers know that come what may, they won't lose out. Sign of the times? Definitely.

And though there was an opportunity for its humour to be dark, sharp and witty, we instead have some overused and stale jokes that fail the film as well as the actors who do try to revive the movie, but to no effect.

Yet, it has a kind of mawkishness that will work for some kind of people, especially the bad-to-the-bone ones. It's a film made for them

Mere Brother Ki Dulhan

Yash Raj banner has earlier produced movies like Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge and Band Baaja Baaraat, which had marriage as the backdrop. The production house is now back with one more movie on the same subject. But its latest venture Mere Brother Ki Dulhan is totally different and it lives up to the legacy.

Mere Brother Ki Dulhan is a romantic comedy flick, which is set amongst upper middle class families in northern India. The performances by Imran Khan, Katrina Kaif, Ali Zafar are the major highlights of the film. Ali Abbas Zafar's wonderful script and direction and Sohail Sen's music are the other attractions of the film.

Inspired by the matrimonial advertisements in newspapers, director Ali Abbas Zafar has created an interesting plot and garnished it with lively characters, which make the film a fun and joyous ride. The subject of the marriage has been used in several Bollywood flick, but the director has managed to be different in its treatment in the movie Mere Brother Ki Dulhan.

The director has made the first half of Mere Brother Ki Dulhan very interesting by including lots of fun elements. But his story turns bit predictable in the second half, which makes it unexciting. However, the twist in climax also seems to be dragging, but it is enjoyable.

Luv (Ali Zafar) is staying in London and his brother Kush (Imran Khan) is in search of an ideal Indian bride (Dulhan) for him. After an array of encounters with several families, Kush finds a girl-named Dimple (Katrina Kaif), who is the craziest/wackiest girl. Both the families agree for their union. But Kush falls in love with her when the preparations for their marriage are in full swing. What happens next will form the climax of the film Mere Brother Ki Dulhan.

Imran Khan is a perfect match for the role and he has done a fabulous acting. As wacky girl, Katrina Kaif's performance is a notch better than her acting in her previous films. And the chemistry between Katrina and Imran is simply superb. Ali Zafar, who is making his acting debut with this film, has an impeccable comic timing. Others like Tara D'Souza, Parikshit Sahni and Kanwaljeet Singh are also good in their respective roles.

Besides having admirable performances, Mere Brother Ki Dulhan has also got rich technical elements. Mainly Sohail Sen's music is beautiful and it suits the mood of the film. Its songs are both mass as well as class. The soundtracks like 'Dhunki...', 'Choomantar...', 'Madhubala...' and the title song are excellent. Sudeep Chatterjee's cinematography and Bosco-Caesar's choreography also add to the beauty of the movie.

In a nutshell, Mere Brother Ki Dulhan is a wholesome entertainer with a tender story. It can be good time-passer for this weekend. Don't miss it.

Producer: Aditya Chopra

Director: Ali Abbas Zafar

Kareena Kapoor's take on marriage with Saif Ali Khan

With Bodyguard that released just last week already being declared a 'hit', Kareena Kapoor has a lot to look forward to in the year 2011.

Kareena Kapoor, in a recent interview with the Times of India spoke about being lucky and the 'feel good factor' of not being called a privileged star kid.

Talking about marriage, and whether she would get married to her beau Saif Ali Khan in the year 2012, Kareena said, “Everyone likes to get married. And like any other girl, I too think a lot about it. I have special plans for the occasion and will do everything to make it memorable. I will not reveal the plan of action right now (laughs). But it will not come as a surprise. We will surely make a formal announcement. Whether it will be in 2012 or not, I can't say right now.

The months ahead is packed for Kareena Kapoor – Ra.One opposite Shahrukh Khan, Agent Vinod with Saif Ali Khan, Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu opposite Imran Khan and Reema Kagti's untitled film with Aamir Khan.

It is interesting to note the career graph of this brilliant actress who did not deliver hits instantly.

Though Bebo was noticed in her first film Refugee (2000) opposite Abhishek Bachchan, it was only in the year 2007 that she finally got a hit movie to her credit with Jab We Met opposite Shahid Kapoor. Speaking about her struggle, Kareena said, “Struggling to get somewhere adds value to the end result. I have been brought up in a different way where I was constantly told that life is not a bed of roses.”

While Kajal Aggarwal has said that the topless cover page is morphed, FHM magazine has hit back at her claims. It states that the organisation has never done such things before and blames the actress for not accepting the truth.

“This accusation is shocking and preposterous. FHM has never in its history morphed a photo of a celebrity. We have a form duly signed by Kajal, in addition to SMS/email exchanges with her confirming the shoot. It is baffling why she chose to deny a shoot that she willingly did,” says Kabeer Sharma, executive editor, FHM India.

On the other hand, Kajal Aggarwal has said that she does not want to stoop so low to be in the news. “I’m not even open to doing bikini scenes, forget about posing topless.” The Times of India quoted the actress as saying. The Magadheera girl ends that she has now realised the importance of having a written contract.

Katrina Kaif refuses to don bikini in Dhoom 3?

For all those who are dying to see Katrina Kaif in a bikini in Dhoom 3 are likely to be disappointed! Katrina, who has been cast opposite Aamir Khan in Dhoom 3 has made it clear that she will not wear a bikini in the film.

The Yash Raj Films have in the past got Esha and Bipasha to clad bikini in Dhoom and Dhoom 2 respectively. Whether they did it out of choice or not is not our concern!

However, Katrina, who is also a good friend of YRF scion Aditya Chopra has managed to convince Aditya that it is not essential for her to don a bikini in the film and apparently, Aditya is completely convinced!

Well, this is not the first time that Aditya Chopra has relented. Aishwarya
Rai Bachchan had also in the past refused to wear a bikini for Dhoom 2.

Speaking to a leading website, a source informed that Chopra is not at all disappointed and is in fact keen on having Katrina Kaif on board.

The source also informed that Katrina's reluctance to wear a bikini is what that took him so long to zero in on an actress for Dhoom 3.

It must be remembered here that Katrina Kaif kick started her career with Boom in which she clad a bikini. However, the film bombed at the box office. Now, since Katrina has become one of the most bankable actresses
in Bollywood, she can take her call!

John is so passionate about the V-Max that he said, “Anybody who rides the V-Max will only change the V-Max, if he has only to buy a new V-Max."

Finally on his Babies, The 'Dhoom' gangster says, “They’re the most powerful machines in the country...in the world, because they belong to me!" Will John Abraham wroom away with the title of India’s Sexiest Bachelor?

Censors cut in The Dirty Picture's new trailer

The steamy posters and trailers of Vidya Balan's upcoming movie The Dirty Picture have become a big sensation on the internet. But the new theatrical trailer of the Silk Smitha's biopic has reportedly been objected by the Censor Board, which has asked the makers to cut certain scenes.

Reports suggest that the officials of the Censor Board felt that the second trailer of The Dirty Picture was too explicit and thus not fit for theatrical or television exhibition, unless it is given an 'A' certificate. But the producers wanted U/A rating for the trailer, which would be shown with as many films as possible starting with Shahid Kapoor's Mausam.

According to reports, the Censor Board objected the lovemaking scene between Vidya Balan and Naseeruddin Shah in the car and certain abusive words in Naseeruddin's dialogue. In a bid to get U/A certificate, the bosses of The Dirty Picture have taken necessary action to cut them.

However, Balaji Motion Pictures' CEO, Tanuj Garg has admitted cutting a few scenes. Tanuj says, "The Censor Board felt that a few scenes and words in the trailer might not be appropriate for television and for people watching a U/A film in cinemas. On the other hand, we were clear that we needed a U/A. Hence, we complied with their requests."

Amitabh Bachchan's Hollywood debut with The Great Gatsby

Can it get any bigger than this? Ok, let's put it this way -- Can it get any 'GREATER' than this? What you are about to read below is unquestionably the biggest and the greatest announcement coming out of our Indian Film Industry.
In what will go down as a defining moment in Indian Cinema, the day we were patiently waiting for has arrived.
The Great Gatsby marks Amitabh Bachchan's first ever mainstream Hollywood movie to be directed by the Oscar nominee Buz Luhrmann (Moulin Rouge). Mr. Bachchan plays Meyer Wolfsheim, a Jewish man Gatsby describes as a gambler who had fixed the World Series. Wolfsheim is a clear allusion to Arnold Rothstein, a New York crime kingpin who was notoriously blamed for the Black Sox Scandal which tainted the 1919 World Series.
The principal photography began this week on Warner Bros. Pictures' and Village Roadshow Pictures' The Great Gatsby. The film is a new big screen adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald's novel from the uniquely imaginative mind of writer-producer-director Baz Luhrmann. The film maker will create his own distinctive visual interpretation of the classic story, bringing the period to life in a way that has never been seen before. Leonardo DiCaprio stars in the title role.
The Great Gatsby follows Fitzgerald-like, would-be writer Nick Carraway as he leaves the Midwest and comes to New York City in the spring of 1922, an era of loosening morals, glittering jazz and bootleg kings. Chasing his own Great American Dream, Nick lands next door to a mysterious, party-giving millionaire Jay Gatsby, and across the bay from his cousin, Daisy, and her philandering, blue-blooded husband Tom Buchanan. It is thus that Nick is drawn into the captivating world of the super rich, their illusions, loves and deceits. As Nick bears witness, within and without the world he inhabits, he pens a tale of impossible love, incorruptible dreams and high-octane tragedy, and holds a mirror to our own modern times and struggles.
Academy Award nominee DiCaprio (Blood Diamond, Aviator) plays Jay Gatsby, with Tobey Maguire starring as Nick Carraway; Joel Edgerton and Oscar nominee Carey Mulligan (An Education) as Tom and Daisy Buchanan; Isla Fisher and Jason Clarke as Myrtle and George Wilson; and newcomer Elizabeth Debicki as Jordan Baker. Indian film legend Amitabh Bachchan will play the role of Meyer Wolfsheim.
Oscar nominee Luhrmann (Moulin Rouge) directs the film in 3D from a screenplay co-written with frequent collaborator Craig Pearce, based on Fitzgerald's book. Luhrmann produces, along with Catherine Martin, Catherine Knapman, Lucy Fisher and Academy Award winner Douglas Wick (Gladiator). The executive producers are Barrie M. Osborne and Bruce Berman.
Two-time Academy Award-winning production and costume designer Catherine Martin (Moulin Rouge) also designs with the director. The editors are Jason Ballantine, Matt Villa and Jonathan Redmond, and the director of photography is Simon Duggan.
Luhrmann said, "Fitzgerald loved movies and was a passionate believer in the power of cinema. The Great Gatsby has been adapted for the screen no less than four times. Fitzgerald's story defies time and geography. The vision and the goal of our remarkable cast and creatives is to do justice to the deftness of Fitzgerald's telling, and illuminate its big ideas and humanity. This is our challenge and our adventure."
The Great Gatsby is being shot in Luhrmann's native Australia. The film maker stated, "The opportunity to make the film in Australia with the Bazmark creative team is very important to us; the assistance from Screen Australia and the NSW Government has made that possible."
The film will be distributed in 3D and 2D by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company, and in select territories by Village Roadshow Pictures.

Prabhu Deva to dance with Hollywood hotties Briana Evigan, Sharni Vinson

Remember Hollywood hotties Briana Evigan and Sharni Vinson grooving their way into stardom in the dance flicks Step Up 2: The Streets in 2008 and its follow up Step Up 3Din 2010? The two dancing sizzlers who scorched up the screen in the two films are ready to form a united force… all for the privilege of dancing with Prabhu Deva in choreographer Remo D'Souza's dance flick that goes on the floors in November.
Remo, who has already signed his two fellow-choreographers Prabhu Deva and Ganesh Acharya, was keen to give his 3D dance flick an international flick. Reportedly, Remo's producer UTV approached Briana Evigan and Sharni Vinson, who immediately agreed when they heard Prabhu Deva was the man they would have to shake their booty with.
Says Remo, "More than Prabhu Deva, the two ladies are excited about Bollywood. Now my challenge is how to make Prabhu's choreography look unique. Because he has been there and done it all. I've to make his and Ganesh Acharya's dancing look unique. It's a big challenge."
The even bigger challenge is to make the two choreographers act.
Says Remo, "My film won't be only about dancing. Remo, Ganesh and the two Hollywood girls will be dancing, of course. But there will be an emotional story that has to be told. I don't think a film can work only on the dancing and singing. By that yardstick, all Bollywood films are song-and-dance flicks. I need to take the dance film further, into the space that the 1985 Sidney Poitier-directed film Fast Forward occupied."
Remo had to do a lot of convincing before Prabhu Deva agreed to come on board. "He is busy directing Rowdy Rathore. But he has long break in November and December. That's when I'll be shooting my film with him."
As for a dance film coming from a choreographer, Remo is quite happy doing the expected. "In my first Hindi film F.A.L.T.U. as a director, I surprised people by making a campus film. Now I can do what I am most comfortable doing."
