23rd James Bond film to shoot near Dudhsagar waterfall

 The shooting of 23rd James Bond film in India has created lot of buzz in the media. The latest we hear is that Daniel Craig starrer movie will be shot in the picturesque Dudhsagar waterfall, which is situated on the Goa-Karnataka border and 60 km from Panaji. Sources claim that the falls is one of the few locations in India selected for a train sequence to be shot for the 23rd James Bond movie. 
According to sources, recce of the spot has already been done and the South-Western Railway, which operates train services from near the waterfall, has also given its approval. But some issues related to shooting are yet to be sorted out. "Height is an issue. For the sequence, they require a particular height, which is not there near this spot. But they have still listed this place," the PTI quotes a source telling.

Meanwhile, the movie bosses are yet to apply for the permission from the Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG), a nodal agency, which gives permission for film shooting in Goa. They need to send "As and when we receive the application, we will consider it," ESG Chief Executive Officer Manoj Srivastava told the PTI.

However, The 23rd Bond film, which is slated to release on 9 November 2012, is directed by Sam Mendes. According to sources, a few places in Bangalore, Hyderabad and Ahmedabad have also been short-listed for the shooting of the train sequence. Indian Railway Ministry has already given its approval for the shooting of the sequence.

In what will go down as a defining moment in Indian Cinema, the day we were patiently waiting for has arrived.
The Great Gatsby marks Amitabh Bachchan's first ever mainstream Hollywood movie to be directed by the Oscar nominee Buz Luhrmann (Moulin Rouge). Mr. Bachchan plays Meyer Wolfsheim, a Jewish man Gatsby describes as a gambler who had fixed the World Series. Wolfsheim is a clear allusion to Arnold Rothstein, a New York crime kingpin who was notoriously blamed for the Black Sox Scandal which tainted the 1919 World Series.
The principal photography began this week on Warner Bros. Pictures' and Village Roadshow Pictures' The Great Gatsby. The film is a new big screen adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald's novel from the uniquely imaginative mind of writer-producer-director Baz Luhrmann. The film maker will create his own distinctive visual interpretation of the classic story, bringing the period to life in a way that has never been seen before. Leonardo DiCaprio stars in the title role.
The Great Gatsby follows Fitzgerald-like, would-be writer Nick Carraway as he leaves the Midwest and comes to New York City in the spring of 1922, an era of loosening morals, glittering jazz and bootleg kings. Chasing his own Great American Dream, Nick lands next door to a mysterious, party-giving millionaire Jay Gatsby, and across the bay from his cousin, Daisy, and her philandering, blue-blooded husband Tom Buchanan. It is thus that Nick is drawn into the captivating world of the super rich, their illusions, loves and deceits. As Nick bears witness, within and without the world he inhabits, he pens a tale of impossible love, incorruptible dreams and high-octane tragedy, and holds a mirror to our own modern times and struggles.
Academy Award nominee DiCaprio (Blood Diamond, Aviator) plays Jay Gatsby, with Tobey Maguire starring as Nick Carraway; Joel Edgerton and Oscar nominee Carey Mulligan (An Education) as Tom and Daisy Buchanan; Isla Fisher and Jason Clarke as Myrtle and George Wilson; and newcomer Elizabeth Debicki as Jordan Baker. Indian film legend Amitabh Bachchan will play the role of Meyer Wolfsheim.
Oscar nominee Luhrmann (Moulin Rouge) directs the film in 3D from a screenplay co-written with frequent collaborator Craig Pearce, based on Fitzgerald's book. Luhrmann produces, along with Catherine Martin, Catherine Knapman, Lucy Fisher and Academy Award winner Douglas Wick (Gladiator). The executive producers are Barrie M. Osborne and Bruce Berman.
Two-time Academy Award-winning production and costume designer Catherine Martin (Moulin Rouge) also designs with the director. The editors are Jason Ballantine, Matt Villa and Jonathan Redmond, and the director of photography is Simon Duggan.
Luhrmann said, "Fitzgerald loved movies and was a passionate believer in the power of cinema. The Great Gatsby has been adapted for the screen no less than four times. Fitzgerald's story defies time and geography. The vision and the goal of our remarkable cast and creatives is to do justice to the deftness of Fitzgerald's telling, and illuminate its big ideas and humanity. This is our challenge and our adventure."
The Great Gatsby is being shot in Luhrmann's native Australia. The film maker stated, "The opportunity to make the film in Australia with the Bazmark creative team is very important to us; the assistance from Screen Australia and the NSW Government has made that possible."
The film will be distributed in 3D and 2D by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company, and in select territories by Village Roadshow Pictures.

Prabhu Deva to dance with Hollywood hotties Briana Evigan, Sharni Vinson

Remember Hollywood hotties Briana Evigan and Sharni Vinson grooving their way into stardom in the dance flicks Step Up 2: The Streets in 2008 and its follow up Step Up 3Din 2010? The two dancing sizzlers who scorched up the screen in the two films are ready to form a united force… all for the privilege of dancing with Prabhu Deva in choreographer Remo D'Souza's dance flick that goes on the floors in November.
Remo, who has already signed his two fellow-choreographers Prabhu Deva and Ganesh Acharya, was keen to give his 3D dance flick an international flick. Reportedly, Remo's producer UTV approached Briana Evigan and Sharni Vinson, who immediately agreed when they heard Prabhu Deva was the man they would have to shake their booty with.
Says Remo, "More than Prabhu Deva, the two ladies are excited about Bollywood. Now my challenge is how to make Prabhu's choreography look unique. Because he has been there and done it all. I've to make his and Ganesh Acharya's dancing look unique. It's a big challenge."
The even bigger challenge is to make the two choreographers act.
Says Remo, "My film won't be only about dancing. Remo, Ganesh and the two Hollywood girls will be dancing, of course. But there will be an emotional story that has to be told. I don't think a film can work only on the dancing and singing. By that yardstick, all Bollywood films are song-and-dance flicks. I need to take the dance film further, into the space that the 1985 Sidney Poitier-directed film Fast Forward occupied."
Remo had to do a lot of convincing before Prabhu Deva agreed to come on board. "He is busy directing Rowdy Rathore. But he has long break in November and December. That's when I'll be shooting my film with him."
As for a dance film coming from a choreographer, Remo is quite happy doing the expected. "In my first Hindi film F.A.L.T.U. as a director, I surprised people by making a campus film. Now I can do what I am most comfortable doing."

SP Balasubramaniam meets Sona.

Kollywood is abuzz with newsthat singer SP Balasubramaniam had metSona at the hospital where she is recuperating after a mild heart attack to enquire about her health and incident that happened at the party hosted byactor Vaibhav.

It may be recalled that Sona had filed a police complaint against SP Balasubramaniam’s son SPB Charan that he attempted to sexually assault her.  Sources in Kollywood say that SPB met the actress to sort out the issue amicably.

With Charan facing a possible arrest as the police have filed a case against him, his fatheris anxious to save him from legal hassles.  There is a talk that the father might invoke his son to apologize for his misconduct to Sona and she may withdraw the case.

Angola’s Leila Lopes is Miss Universe 2011

Leila Lopes from Angola was Tuesday crowned Miss Universe 2011 at a gala ceremony here in Brazil. Ukraine's Olesya Stefanko was the first runner-up while Brazil's Priscila Machado was the second runner-up.

India's Vasuki Sunkavalli failed to make it to the final 16.

Last year's winnaer Mexico's Jimena Navarrete, crowned Lopes, dressed in an off-shoulder cream coloured embellished gown.

This is the first time contestants from 89 countries participated in this beauty pageant, surpassing the previous record of 86 participants.

The Miss Congeniality award went to Montenegro's Nikolina Loncar, Sweden's Ronnia Fornstedt won 'Miss Photogenic' and the trophy for the best National Costume went to Panama's Sheldry Saez.

Live performances by Brazilian singers Claudia Leitte and Bebel Gilberto jazzed up the event.

The Desire’ my last for now: Shilpa Shetty

Shilpa Shetty, who is returning to the big screen in a full-fledged role after four years with her delayed project "The Desire", says it is not her comeback but her last in the near future.

"I had taken a break and after this film I have decided that I won't do any movies because my priorities have changed and I want to concentrate on myself, travel, concentrate on my business. So I have decided not to take up any work," Shilpa told IANS in an interview.

"This is not a comeback. Actually this film got delayed; so it seems I am coming back after a long time," added the actress.

Shilpa, who got married to Britain-based Indian businessman Raj Kundra in 2009, wants to focus on her personal life and business, which includes a spa chain.

"This is going to be the last film audiences are going to see me in for some time. So, out of choice I am not going to work for another couple of years. I think if people want to see whatever little I have done, they should go and watch the movie. Marriage is a full-time job...I'll keep doing ads, appearances and television but along with my business," she said.

Shilpa plans to produce movies, but direction is not on the cards. "I haven't thought of it (direction), but I would be definitely producing films, she said."

Shilpa is paired with Chinese actor Xia Yu in "The Desire", directed by journalist-turned-national award-winning Malayalam film director R. Sarath.

The story traces the respective lives of accomplished Odissi dancer Goutami (Shilpa) and talented Chinese artiste Jai Leang (Xia Yu) who meet in Malaysia.

"I have never portrayed a role like this. I liked the script. Considering the fact that dancing has always been my forte I got a role where dancing is an integral part of the film. So I enjoyed doing this part.

"Normally what happens is that you do a film where they force a dance number in. I got to try a different dance form, Odissi. So I learnt it. I got to work with a foremost Chinese actor that was again a different experience," said Shilpa, who was last seen doing an item number in the 2008 hit "Dostana".

"Here we are projecting two forms of art, Chinese paintings and Odissi dancing - the two rich cultural heritages and the amalgamation of these," she added.

"The Desire" was expected to be completed in 2009, but got stalled due to a financial crisis and it has recently been bailed out by Shilpa's mother, Sunanda Shetty, and is ready to hit the screens. The release date has, however, not been decided.

"I am really happy that it has done well at the festival circuit; people loved it. It won an award at the Geneva Film Festival. The most important thing is that mommy came in to support the film," said Shilpa who made her debut with Shah Rukh Khan-starrer "Baazigar" in 1993.

In her 18-year-long acting career the 36-year-old actress featured in films like "Main Khiladi Tu Anari", "Dhadkan", "Dus", "Life... in a Metro" (2007) and "Apne" (2007). She gained international recognition after featuring and winning Britain's reality show "Big Brother" in 2007.

"The Desire" is Shilpa's first film where most of her dialogues are in English and the actress says initially she felt awkward.

"For the first time I have done my dialogues in English. It was very odd, you know. Imagine saying a dialogue in English; I was wondering whether I am doing it right. It was different. On every front it was a different learning process for me," she said.

The film also features Anupam Kher, Jaya Prada and Vikram Gokhale among others.

"The Desire" is quite a bold film, but there is nothing vulgar, claims Shilpa.

"It's about gender preferences and how everyone has a desire. There is another character who is attracted to me, but I am not attracted towards her. She has a string of affairs but she is chasing me too. There is nothing vulgar in the movie. It's a very aesthetically shot movie," said Shilpa.

Hrithik Roshan, Priyanka Chopra to reunite

Hrithik Roshan and Priyanka Chopra, who seen smooching each other in the 2006 release Krissh will not kiss each other in debutant director Karan Malhotra’s Agneepath.

According to sources, Priyanka and Hrithik will not lock lips in Agneepath.

Priyanka Chopra and Hrithik Roshan are two of Bollywood’s sexiest actors, and it will be wonderful to see them share the same chemistry and comfort level they did in Krissh.

According to the Times of India, when Karan Malhotra was asked why he paired Priyanka and Hrithik together in Agneepath, he said, “I never thought that we were casting a pair. They were on my wish list from the time I started developing the characters and I am lucky they agreed to be part of my film.

Agneepath is slated to release on January 26 next year to make the best use of the four-day long holiday weekend.

Katrina Kaif bonds with new buddy Ali Zafar

Katrina Kaif, who is still very close to ex boyfriend Salman Khan and turns to him for advice, has also found a new and reliable friend in Ali Zafar.

Katrina Kaif and Ali Zafar, Kat’s co-star in Mere Brother Ki Dulhan, are apparently very attached to each other and get along very well. They reportedly hit off on the sets of Mere Brother Ki Dulhan and have now taken their friendship beyond the sets.

Katrina Kaif, in an earlier interview, had expressed the difficulties in maintaining friendship in Bollywood. She had said, “It becomes very difficult to have the same set of people around, as you are constantly on the move. Doing a film takes up so much of your time. When you do a film you get involved in it. For the next three months that unit becomes your family and then once the film wraps up, that world ends. Yes, you do make friends, but sometimes that changes as well.”

However, all that seems to have changed. If sources are to be believed, Ali Zafar treats Katrina like his little sister. Ali’s wife is also very fond of Katrina Kaif and looks forward to meeting her all the time.

Ali Zafar had recently thrown a bash to celebrate the success of his film Mere Brother Ki Dulhan. He had invited the entire cast and crew of the film and Katrina was of course on the top of the invitee list. Though Katrina Kaif had to leave for Dublin on the same day, she made it a point to attend the party. Ali Zafar, who seemed delighted to have her in the bash even sang a song which he dedicated to the beautiful Katrina. Katrina, on the other hand, returned the gesture with a million dollar smile that kept intact all through the party.

AR Rahman lauds V Harikrishna's music for Paramathma

The music of movie Paramathma, which was released into market last week, has received overwhelming response from the music lovers. Interestingly, the songs of Puneet Rajkumar starrer movie have impressed Oscar award winner music maestro AR Rahman. What more do the makers of the movie expect from it than this?

Addressing the audio release function of Paramathma, Yogaraj Bhat shared his excitement about the huge success of the music. The director said, "It was a difficult job to create a wonderful music as we had a tough competition from movies like Jackie and Hudugru. Me and Harikrishna have done lot of hard work for the songs, which have yielded good result."

What makes Yogaraj Bhat happiest man in the world is AR Rahman's appreciation for Harikrishna's music. He added, "Rahman sir happened to listen the Paramathma songs when we were giving final touches to them at his recording house. Impressed by the tunes, he sent an appreciation message to V Harikrishna."

However, Paramathma has five songs and musician V Harikrishna has composed music for the lyrics of Yogaraj Bhat and Jayanth Kaikini. Sonu Nigam, Shreya Ghoshal, Tippu, Harikrishna and Vani Harikrishna have crooned the songs. All the tracks are good to listen and they are sure to become chart-busters.

Malaika Arora Khan set to do item song in Housefull 2

Actress Malaika Arora Khan has wowed everyone with her item dance in 'Munni Badnaam' of the movie Dabangg. The uncrowned Queen of item numbers is now all set to make her comeback with another item song in Sajid Khan's upcoming film Housefull 2, which is expected to bring back Munni's desi look on screen again.

According to reports, Malaika Arora Khan can be seen sizzling on screen in another hot item song in multi-starrer Bollywood movie Housefull 2. Choreographer-turned-director Farah Khan will choreograph this item song. She is expected to bring the glory of her 'Sheila' and 'Munni' together in the song.

However, Malaika Arora Khan has done several item songs like 'Chaiyyan Chaiyyan', 'Kaal Dhamaal', 'Maahi Ve' and the chartbuster 'Munni Badnaam' and she is successful in impressing the pranksters in each of them. Ranbir Kapoor back on track with Deepika Padukone

Actor Ranbir Kapoor and actress Deepika Padukone, who reportedly dated each other once, are now back on track. The Bachna Ae Haseeno pair is once again joining hands for another movie. The Bollywood duo will star together in the film Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani, which is directed by Ayan Mukherjee and produced by Karan Johar and his banner Dharma Productions.

Talking about the Ranbir-Deepika's new film, Karan Johar says that the title Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani is a line taken from RD Burman's famous song from the 70s hit movie Jawani Deewani. It is a romantic film and is sure to exploit Ranbir and Deepika's on-screen chemistry to its fullest extent. Karan adds that they are the best choice for the film.

However, Ranbir Kapoor and actress Deepika Padukone were seen together in Bachna Ae Haseeno. Ranbir has already worked with Karan Johar and Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani will be his second film with the producer. But Deepika is teaming up with Karan for the first time in this film, which will go on the floors in January 2012.

Farhan Akhtar calls 3D trailer of RA.One outstanding

Actor Farhan Akhtar is stunned by the 3D trailer of the much-expected movie Ra.One and he describes the movie as outstanding. The Bollywood filmmaker could not stop exclaiming about it after superstar Shahrukh Khan gave him a sneak peek into the 3D trailer of his mega-budget project.

Farhan Akhtar took to his page to share his excitement about the 3D trailer of Ra.One soon after he watched it on Tuesday. On his Twitter page, the Zindagi Na Milega Dobara star wrote, "@iamsrk showed us two songs and the trailer of RA.One in 3D last night... to put it simply... Outstanding!!!!"

The producer, who has teamed up with Shahrukh Khan for Don 2: The Chase Continues, is currently busy wrapping up Don sequel. Farhan Akhtar says, "Last song of Don in the cans... now the film is officially complete." However, SRK's superhero film Ra.One is slated to release this Diwali.
